VFACE Officer of the Year

The Volusia/Flagler Association of Code Enforcement (VFACE) is pleased to announce Maggie Godfrey as Code Enforcement Officer of the Year, recognizing her dedication and positive attitude. This is the first year the award has been given.

As Volusia County's Code Compliance Coordinator, Godfrey coordinates with officers concerning job sites, meetings, code board hearings, special magistrate hearings, daily activities and property research. "Maggie goes above and beyond to help the compliance officers without ever complaining," wrote Zoning Compliance Officer Debbie Rivera in her nomination form. "She steps in and covers when needed. She always has excellent presentations for the Code Enforcement Board and never hesitates to assist any employee if needed. Maggie is everyone's go-to person."

Dave Hooker, president of the Volusia/Flagler Association of Code Enforcement, gives Maggie Godfrey a plaque honoring her as Code Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Godfrey joined the county team in 2007, serving as a staff assistant and then corrections officer in the Division of Corrections. In 2013, she moved to the Code Compliance Division, where she worked her way up from Code Enforcement Board clerk to compliance officer and then coordinator.

"I like my job mostly because of the team in this department," Godfrey said after winning the award.  "They make me glad I show up every day. This job has its challenges, as any job does, but the camaraderie and the support from this team makes it all worthwhile."
