Code compliance officers are responsible for ensuring that their citizens comply with county or city ordinances and land development codes. The code compliance divisions around the state investigate reports of illegal dumping, accumulation of junk and debris, unsafe structures, overgrown lawns, and other violations of the land development codes. To obtain useful information and help with enforcement punishments, officers need to have a good working relationship with the property appraiser’s office as well as the tax collector’s office in their area. It is important to know how those two offices can help code compliance officers be more effective in their jobs. We all simply want to work together for the common goal of compliance by our residents. This presentation will help close the confusion gap. [1.5 CEH]
