How To Sign In: You must sign into the F.A.C.E. Conference Website to complete your registration. This website is connected to the main F.A.C.E. website, so please use the same login credentials! Please click here for assistance with signing in.

How To Register Yourself: Select your Registration Option (Full Conference). Then, add any sessions to your itinerary that you would like to attend. Please note that the system will alert you if you have selected a session that conflicts with another. You may return to this website to make changes until May 31, 2024.

How To Register Someone Else: Please view our quick guide for assistance with registering someone else from your organization.

How is my registration fee determined?: Your eligibility to register at the Member Rate is determined upon your membership status in the F.A.C.E. system. Members who are currently renewed for the 2023-2024 membership year are eligible to register at the membership rate. Please refer to your membership account at https://face-online.org if you have any questions about your current membership status.

Hotel Reservation: The F.A.C.E. Conference Hotel rate is $129.00 per night. Parking is $12 per day overnight. Instructions to reserve your hotel room will be sent via email after your conference registration is received.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations require a written request and can be sent to Jenny Anderson at [email protected]. In order to receive a refund (minus a $75 administrative fee), all requests must be received on or before Friday, May 31, 2024. No-shows and late cancellations forfeit the full registration fee. Cancellation notifications via social media (e.g., posting on our Facebook page or a tweet) are not accepted. All refunds will be processed after the event has concluded.

Credit Card Payments: Please note that our administrative staff is not authorized to take credit card payments over the phone. Credit card transactions must be completed by the registrant or their administrative staff on the conference website. If you select "Pay Later" during checkout, you may pay your invoice by check or credit card by retrieving the invoice in the Transactions tab of your profile.

Workshop 1-1: Understanding Mental Health Participants will gain an understanding of what mental health encompasses, learn to recognize classic symptoms of mental health conditions and gain experience in starting a conversation about it. Attendees will leave knowing the ripple effect mental health has in our communities and understanding that mental health is physical health. Workshop 1-2: Sea Turtle Protection and Lighting Participants will receive a brief overview of sea turtle nesting in Florida, what sea turtle lighting is, and why it is important. Workshop 1-3: Animal Awareness This presentation will focus on what the modern profession of animal control looks like, how we work with code enforcement, and animal body language and behavior for the safety of code enforcement officers. It will address a “see something, say something” portion which includes a brief overview of how to notice the signs of dog fighting and/or chicken fighting. General Session 3: Homestead Exemption Fraud Code compliance officers are responsible for ensuring that their citizens comply with county or city ordinances and land development codes. The code compliance divisions around the state investigate reports of illegal dumping, accumulation of junk and debris, unsafe structures, overgrown lawns, and other violations of the land development codes. To obtain useful information and help with enforcement punishments, officers need to have a good working relationship with the property appraiser’s office as well as the tax collector’s office in their area. It is important to know how those two offices can help code compliance officers be more effective in their jobs. We all simply want to work together for the common goal of compliance by our residents. This presentation will help close the confusion gap. Workshop 2-2: Bias in Code Enforcement This presentation will build on the 2023 annual conference presentation of Implicit Bias by identifying other forms of bias in code enforcement including Attentional Bias, Confirmational Bias and We/They Bias. Workshop 2-3: FL-601: Preliminary Damage Assessment This course is intended for local and state officials or other employees assisting with damage assessment duties. Training will focus the importance and purpose of conducting and reporting accurate Initial Damage Assessments (IDA) following a presidentially declared disaster. Training will include an overview of the Individual Assistance (IA) program, Public Assistance (PA) program and the pathway to the Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments (Joint PDA). Workshop 2-4: CPR-AED Training This course is a four-hour session. At the completion of the class, students will properly demonstrate identifying an adult or child that is not breathing or is pulseless and begin rescue breathing or CPR. Students will also be instructed on the proper use of an Automatic External Defibrillator. Workshop 4-3: Business Tax Receipts This workshop will cover F.S. Chapter 205, the differences between county and city issuance of business tax receipts, and how code enforcement plays a role in business tax receipts. The session may also address any changes that may occur to the Florida Statutes prior to June 2024. This session will focus on the proactive roles of code enforcement as it pertains to business tax and the importance of business tax receipts.
